Katherine & Mark’s Drive Thru Treasure Island Wedding During Covid-19
Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on the wedding and events industry, but it cannot stop the love. When Covid-19 hit the Bay Area with quarantines and closures, we were so sad for our wedding clients who had to rethink everything. But for awesome clients like Katherine & Mark, they were committed to getting married one way or the other regardless of how many people could attend!
Once we found out that we could no longer utilize their church for our original “Outdoor Greek Festival Wedding” plan, we pivoted quickly to find them within 2 weeks:
- A new venue
- A new officiant
- A new photographer
- And a completely new wedding plan!
We opted for a Virtual Zoom Ceremony + Drive Thru Wedding Reception! We already had food trucks booked for the wedding, so Katherine’s aunt had the idea of moving to a Drive Thru concept like they were doing at school’s for student meal pickups. We hosted 8 of their closest family and friends at Aracely Cafe on Treasure Island that has a beautiful outdoor patio. We worked with RJ at Creative Transit Agency on the audio, and we setup a Zoom call that all their family and friends could join to watch. After the ceremony ended, guests came through in their cars for the Drive Thru Wedding complete with:
- Food Trucks providing To-Go meals for guests including Spunbyss, Judie’s Tacos Locos, and Yummi BBQ.
- Booze bags with delicious Greek desserts baked by the family and to-go wine/beer from Aracely Cafe
- A selfie area where guests could drive up to say hi and take a social distanced selfie with the couple
Overall everyone had a great time, and felt happy to be able to see the happy couple in their wedding attire. Thank you to our amazing vendors who all came through within a WEEK’S NOTICE to make this wedding happen!
